Remote Maintenance System
The Benefits of Remote Maintenance
With the PCS Remote Maintenance Concept authorized remote clients can access your systems through secure connections. Remote
maintenance has many benefits, e.g. - Your staff gets real-time support from PCS engineers during configuration and test phases.
- Your authorized staff members can monitor the control system or execute system tasks according to their access privileges through remote X-displays from mobile devices.
- PCS support engineers can help you online at patching and updating your process computer systems in a straightforward and secure way.

Two-factor authentication
Robust Security
Remote maintenance systems require very high security standards. All data exchange must take place through tap-proof encrypted
channels. Our Remote Maintenance Concept is based on approved two-factor authentication:
- A secure tunnel connection is established from the remote client to the target resource network. Authorization for this connection requires a key authentication. The private key of the connecting user represents the factor "something the user has".
- Once the secure tunnel is established the username/password authentication takes place through this tunnel. These user credentials represent the factor "something the user knows".
- All further data exchange takes place through the secure tunnel. Through this secure connection X-Displays can be sent to a mobile device or to PCS support.
Implementation
Tailored to individual requirements we offer customized implementations of our remote access concept:
- Complete cost-effective VPN solutions based on proven network security technology.
- Integration into existing VPN Topologies.
- Integration into existing authentication frameworks.
Technologies
- Encryption/Tunneling: e.g. TLS ("SSL") or IPsec
- Remote Display Server: e.g. NX, Citrix MetaFrame, Sun Secure Global Desktop
- Authentication Frameworks: e.g. MIT Kerberos, LDAP
